Check notifications and delivery

Separate a stored submission, a sending attempt and provider confirmation.

Start with the entry

A stored submission and its email notification are separate outcomes. Review the WordPress entry first. Free uses WordPress mail; Pro can use WordPress mail, SMTP, Resend or Mailtrap with your own sending configuration.

  1. Locate the submitted entry and its recorded notification attempt.
  2. Check whether the message was accepted, failed or is uncertain before triggering another send.

Verify the sender

Use an appropriate verified sending identity and send a controlled test. Provider settings apply to Accessible Forms notifications, not unrelated WordPress mail. The website account's sign-in emails use a separate sending system.

  1. Choose WordPress mail or configure your own Pro SMTP/API provider.
  2. Save the sender and provider settings, then send a test to an inbox you control.
  3. On staging, enable recipient isolation before exercising a form's real sending path.

Enable provider tracking

Resend and Mailtrap API tracking require the provider webhook and its signing secret. A delivered event means the receiving server accepted the email, not that a person saw it. Review the delivery history for recipient outcomes.

  1. For Resend or Mailtrap API, configure the exact public HTTPS callback shown by the plugin.
  2. Save its signing secret and enable delivery confirmations.
  3. Send a new controlled email and inspect each recipient's history and provider logs.

Understand the backup

For tracked API messages with a configured webhook, the default backup becomes due after 15 minutes without confirmation. WordPress scheduling sends one backup per unconfirmed recipient through WordPress mail. A missing callback can cause a duplicate. Reliable host scheduling matters on quiet sites.

  1. Check that API tracking, a valid callback and the WordPress backup setting are enabled.
  2. Keep WordPress scheduling running. A due check can send one backup after fifteen minutes without eligible confirmation.
  3. Inspect both outcomes. Delivery, a known delay or a terminal event suppresses the backup; missing callbacks can still cause duplicates.
