Choose a useful starting point
Start with the task a visitor is trying to complete. A short, relevant question list is easier to test and maintain than a form collecting information without a clear purpose.
- Open Accessible Forms and choose a suitable starter template.
- Use the thirteen core field types for their intended data. Add a section heading for a meaningful group.
- Review before replacing an existing field set with another template.
Make each question understandable
Labels and help text explain what to enter; placeholders show examples and disappear as someone types.
- Write a visible label and any essential instructions.
- Choose required settings, answer limits and suitable autofill purposes.
- Search, duplicate and reorder fields using the editor's controls.
Set appearance and confirmation
Free has four built-in themes. Pro adds custom appearance and layout, with the same core contrast checks.
- Inspect normal, narrow and error states.
- Set the notification recipients and subject, then preview a sample email.
- Choose an inline confirmation or an eligible published thank-you page.
Publish the reviewed configuration
Draft edits and the currently published form are separate. A server-saved draft is not automatically a public update.
- Complete automatic checks and the required author review.
- Use the private keyboard/theme previews for current edits.
- Publish, place the form on a page and test a normal staging submission.
